On January 21, 2026, the first batch of core components for the steel structure slaughterhouse project in the Philippines, constructed by Qingdao Liweiyuan Steel Structure Processing Plant, successfully departed from Qingdao, China, marking the project's entry into the crucial on-site installation preparation phase. These components, weighing approximately 89 tons, encompass key parts such as the main steel frame of the slaughterhouse, the supporting structure of the slaughtering assembly line, and the load-bearing platform for the refrigeration system. All components were manufactured using high-precision prefabrication technology and have undergone special anti-corrosion treatment, ensuring long-term structural stability in the hot and humid tropical climate of the Philippines.
As a significant cooperative project between China and the Philippines in the field of agricultural infrastructure, the slaughterhouse, upon completion, will have an annual slaughtering capacity of 150,000 head of livestock. Equipped with modern slaughtering and processing equipment and a hygiene and epidemic prevention system, it will significantly improve the standardization level and added value of the local meat processing industry chain. The project leader explained that the team conducted specialized optimization design tailored to the geological conditions and industry standards of the Philippines. Intelligent temperature-controlled containers were used throughout the component transportation process to ensure product quality was not affected by long-distance sea freight.
The project manager of Liweiyuan Steel Structure stated that the entire project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in May 2026. It will create nearly 200 jobs locally, contributing to the upgrading of the Philippine agricultural product processing industry and deepening practical results in Sino-Philippine economic and trade cooperation.
