On February 1, 2026, the first batch of components for the steel structure warehouse project around the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay, manufactured by Qingdao Liweiyuan Steel Structure, was successfully shipped from Qingdao Port, China, to its destination. The warehouse has a total construction area of approximately 8,000 square meters and uses high-strength H-beams as its main frame. Its design load meets the heavy equipment storage needs of local logistics warehousing and will become an important cross-border logistics hub in southern Uruguay upon completion.
This shipment includes over 100 tons of core components such as steel columns and beams. All components have undergone rigorous quality testing, including weld flaw detection, dimensional accuracy verification, and anti-corrosion coating adhesion testing, ensuring compliance with Uruguayan building codes and international ISO standards. The project team leader stated that this shipment marks a key milestone in the project's entry into the on-site installation phase. Technical personnel will be dispatched to Uruguay to provide installation guidance and facilitate on-time project delivery.
It is understood that the progress of this project not only deepens the pragmatic cooperation between China and Uruguay in the infrastructure field but also accumulates valuable overseas project experience for the "going global" of Chinese steel structure technology. The first batch of components is expected to arrive at the Port of Montevideo in 45 days, and on-site installation will commence simultaneously. The entire project is scheduled to be officially operational by the end of June this year, effectively improving local logistics efficiency and driving the development of surrounding cross-border trade industries.
