On April 11, 2026, the first batch of steel structure components for the renovation project of Molokai School in Hawaii, USA, undertaken by Qingdao Liweiyuan Steel Structure, was officially loaded and shipped from Qingdao Port. This marks the smooth entry of the project into the cross-border delivery stage, laying a solid foundation for the project to be completed on schedule.
The Molokai School Renovation Project is a key people's livelihood campus upgrading project promoted by the Hawaii State Department of Education in the United States, located on Molokai Island, Hawaii. The local area has an island climate characterized by high salt, high humidity and frequent typhoons. The project owner has put forward extremely high requirements for the anti-corrosion performance, seismic grade and manufacturing precision of steel structure components. At the same time, all production processes must comply with the American AISC steel structure manufacturing specifications and safety standards, with strict acceptance procedures.
To ensure the project meets the standards, Qingdao Liweiyuan set up a special technical and production team at the beginning of undertaking the project and established a full-process special control system. Optimization was carried out for the special needs of the project from the design deepening stage. All raw materials are high-strength steel that meets North American environmental protection requirements. A multi-layer epoxy zinc-rich anti-corrosion coating process was customized for the island climate, and the anti-corrosion life of the components can reach more than 30 years, meeting the long-term use requirements of the project.
In the production link, Qingdao Liweiyuan Steel Structure introduced a digital precision control system to conduct multiple rounds of inspections on the hole opening, welding and forming dimensions of each component. Finally, the overall error was controlled within 2 millimeters, far lower than the 5-millimeter error standard required by the project. Before leaving the factory, the project components successively completed three internal self-inspections and one random inspection by an authoritative third-party institution. All indicators fully met the owner's requirements, successfully passed the pre-acceptance, and gained recognition from the owner and the supervision team.
The exported Molokai School Renovation Project is the first time that Qingdao Liweiyuan Steel Structure has entered the field of public campus infrastructure in the United States, following the North American commercial building and industrial plant projects. It is an important breakthrough for the enterprise to deepen the overseas market and expand its business boundaries.
